Stage 2: Haynes won the stage and took yellow
August 3, 2005. After almost 90 kilometers breakaway, the 8 leaders arrived to the finish with more than three minutes advance, and British Hamish Haynes won the stage. The favourite Hungarian cyclist, Tamás Lengyel finished in leaders’ group, so it is still possible, that a Hungarian rider is going to be the overall winner.
Second stage of the Tour de Hongrie was started with breakaway attempts, but the first successful movement was only after 80th kilometer. Oakley (Australian), Prazdnovsky (Slovakian), Fulst and Metzke (Germanien), Pajovics (Serbian), Nordhaug (Norwegian), Broekhuizen (Dutch) and Tamás Lengyel (Hungarian) took part of the attemp together with Hamish Haynes.
Their biggest advantage was more than five minutes, but the final difference between time of leaders and the peloton was a bit more than three minutes. 32.
