Tour de Hongrie 2026 started with a team presentation in Gyula

The teams competing in the 47th Tour de Hongrie were introduced to the public on May 12 at the foot of Gyula Castle. The ProSeries-category race begins on May 13, with 112 riders from 19 teams participating.

The team presentation of Tour de Hongrie 2026 kicked off on May 12 amid windy, changeable weather. Starting at 4 p.m., a whole range of cycling activities awaited visitors, including a cyclo-cross training with the Pauwels Sauzen team, and a BMX freestyle demonstration featuring Zozó Kempf, the European and world champion with ties to Gyula. The partners of the Tour de Hongrie served as exhibitors with exciting programs, while the city of Gyula filled the stage with cultural events.

The main protagonists arrived at 6 p.m.—that’s when the team presentation began, which viewers could also watch live on the M4 Sport channel. A total of 112 riders from 19 teams took the stage, including 15 Hungarian cyclists. Among the WorldTeams representing the elite of the sport, seven were present: XDS Astana, Lidl-Trek, UAE Team Emirates, Bahrain Victorious, Jayco AlUla, Soudal Quick-Step, and NSN Cycling Team are participating. During the team presentation, spectators were introduced to the race route, the distinctive jerseys, and the biggest stars. The program was enlivened by a performance from the Vuelta SE Passion dance group.

The loudest cheers went to the race’s local stars, including former silver medalist Dina Márton and the race’s lates Hungarian winner, Attila Valter. Joined by János Pelikán, they also took part in a panel discussion following the team presentation. 

The 47th Tour de Hongrie kicks off on May 13 at 1:20 p.m. at the foot of Gyula Castle. The riders face a 143-km route before reaching the finish line in Békéscsaba. The race’s first yellow jersey is expected to go to a sprinter.
