After last year's surprise, here came an even bigger one.

Nine National Teams joined the peloton in the 7th Tour de Hongrie: Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Czechia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Hungary A and Hungary B. The winner of the most prestigious Tour de Hongrie at the time was an unknown young Hungarian: József Vitéz.
